I think it
is an illusion. In the after she has stretched her ears to make them
twice as big, which makes her face and nose seem smaller. Its a
modification of the old Müller-Lyer Illusion.
First discovered in
1889 by F.C. Müller-Lyer, the illusion has become of the subject of
considerable interest and different theories have emerged to explain the
phenomenon. When applied to the human face, making the ears longer
fools the cerebral cortex to think the face, especially the nose appear
